Researcher at Flow Field Imaging Laboratory (FFIL) at St. Anthony Falls Lab., University of Minnesota
September 2018 - Present
-
Organized super large scale field experiments of 100 m, which include wind energy, wind turbine wake phenomenon, and snow settling projects using natural snowfall
-
Developed systematic field measurement methods for snow settling research under various snow, turbulence, and meteorological conditions
-
Developed the experimental measurement for precise estimate of snow properties using the integrated in-line digital holography system
-
Explored snow settling dynamics in atmospheric turbulence with a focus on the particle turbulence interaction, specifically about preferential sweeping and non-homogeneous concentration effects
-
Estimated turbulence characteristics including the dissipation rate and the Kolmogorov scale based on sonic anemometer and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) results
-
Investigated more accurate and precise snow properties including morphology, concentration, and density with a new snow classification model using machine learning
